Welcome!  This project is an international collaboration in building an on-line, cloud classroom on economy-wide policy analysis using computable general equilibrium (CGE) models. The course is geared to an undergraduate/masters level and is designed to be accessible over the internet at anytime and anywhere. The course engages students in learning how to integrate their separate studies of micro, macro, trade, finance and other economics courses to develop a comprehensive, analytical  perspective on real-world economic problems using a quantitative model.

This hands-on course introduces students to the use of a CGE model as a laboratory in which they can control, experiment with, and study micro- and macroeconomic behavior in a national or regional economy. We use an intuitive, menu-driven CGE model – the RunGTAP model developed by GTAP - that minimizes technological hurdles and allows students to quickly begin to focus on their economic thinking and experimentation.

The course relies mostly on freely available resources, and includes lessons; assignments and case studies with step-by-step instructions; links to useful resources; and opportunities for students to interact with teachers and to work with other students around the world in group modeling projects.

This pilot website and course are under construction.   If you have questions, comments or suggestions on them, you are welcome to post them here.  If you would like learn more about registering for  a  4-week course to be held in February – March 2012, please contact us.
